86, I think, was one yr that I listened to the DEAD do Farm Aid...I may have the yr, wrong, but it was either this or 87. What I recall was for the first time in a long time, trying to tape them...via the broadcast. And, stopping, cause, well, yes...you know the refrain.

But, you know who did NOT suck that day? The Blasters!

As I was deep in the kid raising phase of my life, and did NOT go to shows, I heard them do three songs, and the traditional Boll Weevil tune? They absolutely tore that up; best version by far...WhStripes does a fair rendition, but, I'd say in 86, the Blasters were at their peak.

It was '86, WT....I was there. It was my first show and I thought it was fantastic. I listen now and find the better part of it unlistenable - especially the Dylan stuff. Im such a touchhead. Happy New Year you old hippy.

Hey SB! You mean you were actually at the show? Somewhere in the midwest, I think? Cool...I was listening from Austin, TX, my first job...Longhorns and all.

I had that tape for a while, and lost it; was very pissed off cause I never found the Blasters doing that version again.

Have a great New Yr too!

They were piped in via satellite from Rich Stadium on 7/4/86. They had the biggest acts at the time performing all over the US on that day and showing it on the big screen at different stadiums(as part of the benefit)...Like I said, not exactly an earth-shattering performance - but at the time, it completely melted my face. You know the rest...
